Although CBD is rapidly gaining in popularity, most consumers are in the dark when it comes to the basic facts about CBD oil. How is it made? What is it? And what does it do? The science behind cannabinoids may be rather complex, but anyone can benefit from an introduction to CBD oil facts. Keep reading to find out what CBD oil is, as well as 3 fun facts about CBD oil.
What is CBD oil?
CBD oil is a product that’s made from hemp extract and carrier oil. Hemp is a plant that contains a lot of molecules: cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids… Among them, CBD is one of the most fascinating ones. As research has shown, it can relieve pain, inflammation, muscle cramps, anxiety, insomnia, and even nausea.
CBD oil is a product that contains a highly concentrated CBD extract, giving you the most out of that molecule. Although CBD oil is now more popular than ever before, not everybody knows the facts about CBD oil. Scroll down to learn even more about how this product works.
How is CBD oil made?
CBD oil is made by extracting CBD from the hemp plant. This is usually done by taking hemp flowers (sometimes also leaves and stalks), extracting them into an oil, and extracting the CBD from that oil using solvents or CO2 extraction.
Once a thick CBD concentrate has been extracted from the hemp plant, it’s mixed together with a carrier oil like hemp seed oil or olive oil to form CBD oil.
What are the benefits of CBD oil?
For many people, the benefits of CBD oil are the most interesting CBD oil facts. After all, we all want to know how a given product will affect us.
CBD has an incredible array of benefits. Some of the most useful ones are relieving pain and inflammation, relieving anxiety, and fighting insomnia. But according to some studies, CBD could also be used to relieve high blood pressure, seizures, muscle cramps, nausea, and even skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis. 3 Fun CBD oil facts
Now that you’re aware of the main CBD oil facts, let’s move on to a couple of “fun facts” on CBD oil that you might not have known.
CBD oil is fat-soluble
CBD oil is a fat-soluble tincture. This means two things. First, don’t try to mix it with water because it’ll just float to the surface. But more importantly, you can mix it with other fatty ingredients. CBD is fat-soluble in our bodies as well. So when you take it together with a source of fat, it gets a much better chance of being absorbed. Like other fat-soluble supplements (magnesium, vitamin A…), it’s a good idea to take CBD oil together with a large meal or a fatty drink (for example a full-fat coconut milk latte.)
CBD works well with essential oils
One of the facts about CBD oil that many people don’t know is that it contains much more than just CBD. CBD is just one of the many molecules that are found in the hemp plant. But most CBD oil also contains other molecules. For example, cannabinoids like CBN and CBG, and terpenes like limonene or myrcene. All of these molecules can help CBD to absorb better, thanks to the “entourage effect”.
What’s the connection with essential oils? Well, just like CBD oil, essential oils are very rich in terpenes. And because terpenes help with CBD absorption, taking CBD with essential oils could make it a lot more potent. So next time you’re making CBD edibles, why not use a few drops of essential oils in there? You can also find CBD oil tinctures that already contain added essential oils.
CBD oil is incredibly versatile
One of the CBD oil facts that surprises people the most is how versatile CBD is. Think you can only take it under the tongue? Think again! CBD oil can be mixed with food to make things like CBD-infused salad dressing or guacamole. It can be mixed with your favorite moisturizer to give it anti-redness and anti-inflammatory properties. It can even be used directly on your skin. So if you’ve got a bottle of CBD oil at home, why not get creative with it?
Our favorite CBD oil products
Now that you’re familiar with some interesting facts about CBD oil, why not try out a new product? Here are some of our all-time favorite CBD oil tinctures.
1. Endoca Raw CBD and CBDa hemp oil 1,500 mg
If you’re looking for a simple, basic CBD oil product, this Endoca tincture is a great option. What sets it apart from other similar products is the fact that it’s a “raw” oil. Endoca uses minimal heat in the extraction process, which results in a CBD extract that’s particularly rich in cannabinoids, terpenes, and nutrients.
This tincture is very high in CBDa, a phytocannabinoid that usually disappears when hemp extract is heated up. Like CBD, CBDa has anti-inflammatory, pain-relieving, and anxiety-relieving properties. When you take the two together, they get even stronger thanks to the so-called “entourage effect”. So if the main reason you want to take CBD are pain, inflammation, or anxiety, this could be a great option for you.
Like all Endoca products, this oil is certified organic and GMO-free. The hemp extract it uses is raw, broad-spectrum, solvent-free, and third-party tested. Considering the quality of the product, it offers great value for money. But with 5mg of CBD in each drop, it isn’t necessarily a beginner-friendly product. Instead, we recommend it to people who are used to taking CBD or need more because of severe pain, inflammation, or anxiety.
- Minimally processed product
- Rich in CBDa
- High potency
- Added vitamin E and omega fatty acids
- Endoca rarely have offers or discounts on their products
- Strong hemp flavor
- no flavor options
2. CBDfx Wellness 2:1 Tincture CBD + CBG
This CBD tincture by CBDfx is also very high in another cannabinoid called CBG. As research has shown CBG can be just as effective if not more effective than CBD in relieving pain and inflammation. This had led some people to call it “the new CBD”.
In this product, CBDfx uses CBD and CBG in a 2:1 ratio. The product also contains a lot of terpenes thanks to its broad-spectrum extract. Finally, it’s enriched with anti-inflammatory curcumin and coenzyme Q10. We like the fact that this oil marries so many ingredients that can complement the benefits of CBD. If you’re looking for a tincture you can use for a wide range of symptoms (pain, inflammation, nausea, high blood pressure, anxiety, insomnia…), it could be perfect for you.
We also enjoy the fact that the tincture is naturally sweetened with stevia, making it more palatable. But if you prefer a completely natural hemp taste, it may not be for you. Get it in four different potencies, ranging from 500mg to 4,000mg per bottle.
- Contains curcumin and coenzyme Q10
- Broad-spectrum CBD
- Four strengths available
- Great price per milligram of CBD
- Some people won’t like its sweet stevia flavor

Joy Organics is an American brand with a solid reputation for making high-quality products. This oil bears USDA Organic certification. It is also GMO-free, CO2-extracted, and third-party tested. You can access the certificate of analysis for this product simply by checking out Joy Organics’ website.
In terms of ingredients, this remains a very simple product. It only contains MCT oil, key lime oil, stevia, and full-spectrum CBD extract. Since hemp can often have a strong and bitter taste, adding in stevia and key lime was a great idea. They give the product a slight sweetness and tanginess that’s very much appreciated.

In this tincture, you’ll find MCT oil, broad-spectrum hemp extract, peppermint essential oil, and beta-caryophyllene. MCT oil is a neutral-tasting oil and peppermint adds a kick of freshness to the product. It even serves to hide the taste of CBD, which can seem very strong to inexperienced users. Finally, the fact that this product is enriched with the terpene beta-caryophyllene makes it even stronger.
